Kuzana Ogg, Saivala; Oil on canvas, 24 x 48,” 2009

Ogg’s abstract, yet detailed and layered paintings are inspired by the colors, textures and energy of her native India. Composed of largely organic shapes and vibrant colors, her elegant images are reminiscent of lush tropical foliage and the shimmer of silk saris. Kuzana Ogg is an emerging artist who is steadily gaining recognition on a national level. This is her second solo show at Matrix Fine Art.

Raul Dorn’s paintings energize Matrix Fine Art

Matrix Fine Art is excited to introduce this outstanding Las Cruces artist to the Albuquerque area! Raul Dorn’s vibrant, yet slightly whimsical, abstract paintings often start with collaged sewing patterns. The resulting images sometime retain the arrows and track marks, but Dorn’s use of semi-organic shapes and bold lines transform them into pathways that lead to a deeper and more metaphysical realm.

Dorn’s February reception was well attended and we continue to receive rave reviews of his work.

Even Raul’s son Lowell gave us “thumbs up!” How cool is that!

One of Raul’s friends volunteered to play his guitar and it made this First Friday reception extra special.

Gallery assistant Tanya Landin takes care of last minute details just before the reception.

In the words of the artist:
“Less is becoming more in the recent oil on canvas work of the studio, as the gift of silence and void become more precious. Painting has become a journey, a diary, a place to fly, a place to give order to my meandering thoughts, a place to comprehend the source of truth that lies beyond, behind, and below all surfaces.”

Don’t miss this fabulous show! It runs until February 27.
