Hartshorne’s realistic oil paintings capture the unique in the ordinary, the beauty in the mundane. Although this particular exhibition focuses on her mouth-watering still lives, she paints what so often goes unnoticed at our hectic modern pace: the unusual angle of a fork next to a gracefully draped napkin, or, the way a wine glass reflects the nearby candle light. Hartshorne explores the play of light and shadow, and brings her subjects alive with color. This is her first solo show at Matrix Fine Art.
