Image New Mexico 2015 Opening Reception at Matrix Fine Art

Enjoying the Image New Mexico 2015 exhibition
On July 3, Matrix Fine Art was proud to host a First Friday opening reception for the Image New Mexico, 2015 exhibition, an annual photography event.

This popular annual event always draws a great crowd!

IMAGE New Mexico2015 is a juried photography exhibition organized by Tim Anderson and Patrick Berrett.

More than 50 photographers from all over the U.S sent in over 200 images for our jurors. A point system was used which resulted in a fair, yet still very competitive selection process.  Since its inception in 2010, this juried show consistently has attracted prominent photographers and featured outstanding images covering a wide variety of subject matters. This year’s show is no exception with images ranging from organic subject matters to majestic landscapes, figurative pieces which seem to focus on cowboys this year, the contrast between the natural landscape and human-made structures, and our fascination with old cars. Two years ago the show was opened to photographers from outside New Mexico although the images had to be taken in New Mexico. This changed the flavor of the show, but it also enriched it. Now we are seeing more images about New Mexico where before we saw more work by New Mexico photographers that made every effort to produce work that looked less regional.

The Matrix Fine Art has enjoyed hosting the Image New Mexico exhibitions for several years now--and sadly 2015 marks the final installment. Pat Barrett and Tim Anderson are retiring the exhibition. We want to thank both Pat and Tim for all the hard work they have done for photographers in the past several years.

They are still hard at work lining up the 1x15 (1 Model, 15 Photographers) in December, opening here at Matrix Fine Art.

We had a great crowd and an excellent turnout and we thank you for supporting this legendary local event!

The photo lineup included rich monochrome pieces...

...and luscious, full-color entries!
